What is the significance of the Comment ?

Comment is crucial to build a feeling of belonging and togetherness within your audience. Developing a space where like-minded individuals feel part of something meaningful. It is the place where you can actively participate in the communication. 

YouTube organizes comments according to its primary content types such as: videos, live streams, Shorts and community posts making it easier to manage feedback across each format.

YouTube’s comment settings offer flexibility, with the main focus on helping creators maintain a safe and welcoming space for their audience. Keep in mind that before exploring the comment settings, there are certain cases where these options may be restricted or unavailable. For example : If the video is restricted , If the YouTube channel/video is intented for children and if you're using supervised account.

You have the option to allow all comments, meaning YouTube won’t review them before posting — they’ll appear instantly. However, viewers can still flag any offensive or spammy content. YouTube will take action and remove any comments that clearly breach its community standards.

You’ll find this option in the Settings menu, under “Community moderation” and then “Automatic filters.” Simply add the unwanted words, separated by commas, to filter them out.

This section also allows you to block certain users, which hides their comments and chat activity on your channel. YouTube will begin deleting their existing posts within a few days, and you won’t see their messages or find them in Creator Studio.

To fully protect your channel, consider enabling moderation for any comment that contains a link. In the Settings menu, under the blacklist options, you'll find a checkbox related to comment filtering. By default, YouTube blocks all chat messages that contain links. However, if you enable the option to "Send comments with links for review," any comment that includes a URL or hashtag will be sent to your review queue.

Renouned authors who has large amount of audience faces thousands of comments and it is very difficult for them to reply all the comments. Acknowledging each comment, even with a simple like or reply, can go a long way in building loyalty and encouraging continued discussion.

There is a "Greeting" section to share a brief introduction with your audience.

You have to interact with your subscribers, your followers. This will please them and build a strong creator and subscriber relationship.

You’re not limited to the “Comments” section in Creator Studio — you can also respond to comments by clicking on any specific video in the “Content” area, with all the same tools at your disposal.

You can also use a comment moderator

A moderator acts as a trusted helper on your YouTube journey. You can assign this role to anyone you trust who has their own channel. Their primary role is to assist you in managing the community by removing spam, inappropriate messages, or off-topic comments.

Moderators are allowed to flag or remove comments they believe go against your channel’s guidelines. These flagged comments won’t be deleted immediately—they’ll be moved to the “Held for review” section under “Community” in Creator Studio. From there, you, as the creator, can review the comment and decide whether to approve it or delete it permanently.

Keep the conversation engaging by asking questions in pinned comments, and stay on top of moderation to swiftly remove any negative or disruptive messages. Show appreciation to your most supportive viewers by liking their comments or giving them hearts. Most importantly, make an effort to respond to your subscribers — your replies go a long way in building stronger connections.
